sick

elementary kids make me sick, literally!  i have been more sick in the past 4 months than i have in the entire 9 years of my marriage.

i have had strep throat, which i have never had before in my life, two stomach bugs, a sinus infection, and either one cold or several colds (i can't be sure!).

currently i have either the same cold or a new one, who knows!  i am so glad that the year is almost over.  it has been an experience that has been educational, hard, fun, and exhausting.  i have learned so much about myself through my experiences as a p.e. teachers assistant.

here in no particular order is what i have learned (maybe):

  • p.e. teachers do a lot more work than i ever thought, and get very little thanks for that work.
  • a tan comes with the job - remember your sunscreen!!!
  • there are so many different sides to the students and seeing them only in the classroom you miss a part of them.  i have seen the different sides of students now, and i feel that seeing them in such a different perspective will help me be a better teacher in the class room.
  • safety patrol every morning and afternoon can be a drag
  • if you actually play with the kids, you will lose weight!!!!
  • i miss my pretty clothes!!
  • work out clothes make it easy to get dressed in the morning.
  • i will now appreciate my time in the classroom and i have a new respect for teachers aids and p.e. teachers as well.

i know there is more that i have learned but at 10 at night this is all i can think of.

so, as i seek a new teaching job, i hope that i can take this experience and put it to good use.  God puts us in places for a reason, and i know there is a reason for my time as a p.e. teachers assistant, not sure what it is yet, but someday soon it will all make sense.
